A little more about us…
Anna Bezahler and Stephanie Burchinow are an LA based writing team and longtime collaborators. They have performed together on a UCB Harold team for three years and co created the 25 minute sketch pilot No Worries If Not, featuring six sketches with an all women and nonbinary cast.
Anna, a Philly native, was a series regular on The Z-Suite and a staple of the LA improv scene, performing live most nights while hosting podcasts and creating original work. Stephanie, an Asian American writer from the Midwest, is known for sharp, female driven comedy, with her pilot Devil’s Daughter recognized by Coverfly, and currently works with writer director Erica Oyama.
Together, they create character driven, offbeat comedy across stage and screen, and have been developing their series Platonic 2 Stars, a social media focused comedy that highlights their distinct voice and perspective.
Want a more info about why we think this series is cool and special?
We create character driven, offbeat comedy rooted in our real experiences navigating performance, friendship, and the increasingly unhinged world of social media. Our work lives in the tension between authenticity and desperation, exploring what it means to want attention, validation, and success while still trying to maintain a sense of self.
Our comedy is a blend of awkward, hyper-specific human behaviors and bold physical and directorial choices. We're exploring the humiliating toil of trying to be an artist, the meaning of success itself, as well as joyfully codependent female friendship. Social media is the perfect playground for this because it rewards extremes, and we’re interested in what happens when very real, very flawed people try to play that game.
What drives our work is our dynamic. We’ve been performing together for years, and our comedy comes from a shared rhythm of heightening each other’s worst impulses while grounding it in a real friendship. That push and pull allows us to explore cringe without losing heart.
Through our series Platonic 2 Stars, we explore the delusion, ambition, and vulnerability of trying to “make it” online. We use short form, social first storytelling to satirize viral culture while also admitting we’re fully complicit in wanting it. Ultimately, we’re interested in making people laugh at the parts of themselves they recognize but don’t always want to admit. Anything for viral.
